LONG SLOW DISTANCE

Well the time had drawn near for a LSD, needless to say Anna was not too happy about that. Nervous tension was evident from Thursday already .

Saturday rocked on and that brought rain to KZN, it rained and rained and I was hoping that the race would not be in rain. When the alarm went off at 03:00 I took a peek out side and although wet it was not raining.

Off to the the start of the Hullets 25 km, a lovely race run from Waterfall up to Hillcrest and then part of the Comrades route. Where they go down Fields Hill this race branches off down through Wyebank to a murderous hill known as Bosse (why cause that is the road name)

Arriving at the start it was still not raining and being one of the "big races" in KZN it was jam packed, I was still sleeping at this stage don't believe me check the photo

So off to the start line, final check on the equipment, all working and BANG off we go, I insisted on a 4 km walk from the start as Anna needs to learn race walking and yup she styled. All too soon it was time to run...5.4.3.2.1. lets jet and off we go. The route is one of the nicest routes I have had the pleasure to run and all was going well..........

Then my hell started, Anna had enough at 18 km the wheels came off and I had to insert a number of walks to get her to the finish. She drank too much coke and ended up with that wanting to throw up feeling not to mention so idiot almost took her out on the road, the side of the car skimmed past her clothes, lucky the mirror passed just above her hip. She could of been badly injured, this of course brought on the tears. Eish what a day. So 1 km from the finish and 24 km done Anna was also done. I tried in vain to get her to run the last few meters to the finish straight, check it out...

There it is the famous "fok dit" walk. Shame it was a long way and the last time she did distance was in November last year. She managed to jog the finish straight to burst into tears at the finish, after a few hours of "I hate you" she finally said it was not that bad
