GEORGE ARCHER CIRCUIT RUN

Phew 18 more days till start and they have changed the goal posts, originally it was 5 days for 201 km. Doable ?

Anyway now they come with 211 km, the reasoning behind this change makes perfect sense but has also made a few runners question it.

Standard marathon is 42.2 kilometres multiple this by 5 days and you get 211 so they now come up with a catchy slogan as well, 5 DAYS….5 MARATHONS, so that is what it is okay well this is still doable I think, never having done such a thing before I could only actually tell you after I have done it.

But now some runners feel that it is wrong to advertise it like this as it is not 5 standard marathons as in 5 hour cut off running balls to the wall type of thing. It is still only 211 km from Tues 10h00 to Sun 10h00.

Does that make it a failure or is that still tough to do and therefore makes the above comment seem silly?

I can see this being very tough mentally and physically, does it actually matter whether or not I run it in 5 hours a day or 24 hours a day, isn’t the end result the point, I believe it is the point and therefore if I run 42.2 in six hours then that is the way it will be and I will be damn proud of doing that for 5 days.

I think their claim that it is 5 marathons in five days is justified and I would be proud to wear the T-shirt.

In fact I have been looking at getting my own printed with the RWFL logo on the front and a caption “If I can’t run faster, I will run longer “ and on the back
George Archer 2010 5 Days…5 Marathons.

  1. Wow, it's nearly here! Wonder what the grass will look like after the race...? I hear it gets very warm there. Good luck with the final preparations!

  2. I don't know so much about the after BUT during the race, there are 55 competitors, one little rain and we have a very sad chain of events. Trail shoes and gators are being packed in for sure.

Thanks Johann I admit to being a little nervous as the time creeps closer.
