We arrive there just before the race start, I go enter and then get ready for the race, kiss my wife bye bye and off to the start line.
To protect my hands I bought a pair of gym gloves so if I was to fall I would be protected, that did not last long.

Anyway the race started and I broke into my run, I was quite enjoying the run, there is a hill that lasts for about 4 km and I took it on, kicking its butt, my heart rate stayed around 172 bpm the whole way, I was really impressed with myself.

So my hands start to swell and the gloves become to tight, they actually feel as though they are cutting into my hands. So I take them off and hand them to my wife who is on the side of the road taking pictures.

At the top of the hill I feel there is not room around my wedding ring so I removed that as well, saw my wife just ahead and ran up to her, handed over the ring and back to the road.
Well that is when it happened, I stumbled not sure on what but I tried to rectify by taking a longer step, didn’t work, I came down hard on the asphalt .
My Sani injuries were almost healed but the asphalt ripped these scabs away and in the process burning the new skin and shredding it.
It hurt like hell and bled just as much, I looked at my right hand and I could actually see the meat. I decided there and then to pull out f the race. I made my way to the car and sat on the boot rim while trying to clean my wounds with disinfectant. OMG it hurt so bad, I was shaking from the pain and from anger, I was so cross that I had fallen again. I was having such a great run.
So yes back to tending to wounds and training is on halt AGAIN. I think this is the final nail in Comrades 2010 but we will see how it goes. I should be back on the road this week coming.
Wow, that's bad luck in its worst form! Good luck recovering.
