So the race starts and I am feeling good, I change from the normal 200 walk and 800 run to 2 kay run 200 m walk. Okay this was a test to see if I could maintain it for a whole half marathon.

It really did make a difference and I found that I was 9 minutes faster when I got to 10 kays.....by 13 kays I felt that there was something not right, next thing my HRM is screaming 197 bpm and I am on max at 180 bpm. I am light-headed and not well at all. By 14 kay I was stuffed and reduced to a walk. By the time I came around the bend to the finish I had lost those nine minutes and was really feeling sick.

I went straight through the finish to the swimming pool and kit and all into the cool cold water. I did start feeling better after that.

It was short lived after I changed I was feeling quite bad again, I guess it had a lot to do with pushing hard and no energy replacement. My wife was like the bloody paparazzi, trying to sit and just recoup myself she takes a picture...how sad can one look ?
