For a few months I have been watching The Biggest Loser Australia on E-TV. I have never really watched the programme before that and I must say I was hooked. Not only that these guys totally inspired me with their weight loss. One stood out for me and that was Kristie Dignam. She really worked very hard and on several challenges actually beat the guys.

Those who didn’t watch will say who is Kristie Dignam so here is a short insert about her.
Raised in Perth, Kristie is the oldest of five children and has always been a strong, vibrant, and active woman.
Kristie met her husband David at 18 years of age and soon afterwards fell pregnant with their first child. As a young woman, Kristie enjoyed playing basketball, cycling and going to the beach but she found it difficult to implement her physical activities into her new role as a wife and mother.
Consequently, Kristie found herself gaining a whole heap of unwanted kgs and then lugging them around with her for years, and five more pregnancies.
In January of 2006, Kristie and her husband suffered the loss of their sixth baby, a little girl called Amy, through stillbirth and this tragedy forced her to spend time really taking stock of her life and evaluating her priorities.
Things that had seemed important suddenly came into a different light and things that had previously seemed less necessary, like becoming healthy, became much more desirable.
Kristie recognised the fragility of life and wanted to ensure that she did everything she could to ensure she’d be around for her children for many years to come. She worked hard to achieve her weight loss success in front of over 1.5 million viewers each week on Network Ten’s hit series The Biggest Loser.
While participating in The Biggest Loser, Kristie shrunk before our eyes from a massive 104.8 kgs to 66.1 kgs in just 17 weeks. Not only did she demonstrate that with a positive attitude and a whole heap of grunt you can change your life for the better, she also showed us how to give the ‘Big Boys’ a real run for their money.

Kristie gained a place in the final and shared a 700 gram margin with the two ‘Big Boys’. Kristie was able to show that a mother of five can do anything!
With temptations and weigh-ins she demonstrated that nothing is too hard to overcome.
Kristie has become one of the most recognisable women in Australia and she constantly receives e-mails from women seeking advice on weight, fitness and family issues.
Some past appearances include, Guest hosting at Nova 93.7fm, Momentum Women’s Forum Forever Young Luncheon, SIDS and Kids Ambassador and Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation Member.
Kristie has also featured in numerous publications including Who Weekly, TV Week, Slimming. Woman’s Day, New Idea, and in newspapers across the country.
Kristie has just completed her Certificate IV in Fitness and Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment and works solidly on the speaking circuit, where she is inspiring others with her amazing story of determination and courage.
“You can do anything!”
